Minutes Special Budget Supervisors

Board of Supervisors Budget Meeting, Wednesday November 11, 2020

The Sadsbury Township Board of Supervisors is conducting the November 11, 2020 budget meeting remotely on ZOOM.  Chairman, Dave Reynolds called the meeting to order.  Present was Supervisors Earl Taylor and John Moore.  Township Treasurer, Tammy Russell was also present along with Accountants Chris Herr and Daniel Niehls.

Tammy Russell stated basically this is a formality of the budget process and the budget is definitely workable next year.

Chris Herr stated he is concerned for the future long-term stabilization of the General Fund.  This is not a long term budget for future years.

Mr. Reynolds stated that somewhere in future budgets, we will have to bite the bullet and have a tax increase.

Ms. Russell stated the Codes department is bringing in more than taking out.  She and Mr. Reynolds will have a ZOOM meeting next Wednesday with the owner of Codes Inspections.  Ms. Russell stated if Codes Inspections also does the Zoning, it would save the Township money.

With no line items to decrease and no place to cut funds, Mr. Reynolds made a motion, seconded by Mr. Taylor to advertise the budget is available for inspection for 30 days and to pass the budget and close the end of the year in a December 16th meeting on ZOOM.

Mr. Reynolds asked if there could be a line item for tuition reimbursement for each employee.  Mr. Herr stated it could be done later with a budget amendment.  He would like to know how the rules of taxability work. Chief Hawley stated he will wait to next year to see what grants are offered for tuition for officers training.   He also stated the donated body cameras have been received and the IT guy will get them set up.  The server will cost $1,600.  Chief Hawley stated this is $20,000 worth of equipment received from Phoenixville for free.

It has been decided the Township will forgo the Christmas Luncheon because of COVID, but maybe we can have a barbecue in the summer.

With there being no further business, Mr. Reynolds made a motion, seconded by Mr. Taylor, to adjourn the meeting.  With there being no questions, the Board voting “aye’, the motion passed unanimously.

Respectfully Submitted
