Board of Supervisors Budget Meeting Wednesday, September 15, 2021

A budget meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Sadsbury Township was conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 commencing at 9:00 a.m. Chairman, Mr. Reynolds called the meeting to order. Present was Supervisor Mr. Moore and Mr. Taylor via telephone. Also present was Tammy Russell, Treasurer and Dan Niehls, Accountant.

A moment of silence and Pledge of Allegiance was observed.

Mr. Niehls stated there was not a drop in taxes that was expected. The Township received $215,000 in COVID money and will receive another $215,00.00 either the end of this year or early next year. It isn’t quite clear what this money can be used for but it could be used for AV System in the Township for remote access to meetings.

The Octorara Bridge Project could be done with grants if there are any out there. Will have to get the numbers for repair.

There is difficulty finding a location to put the Public Works garage.

The $50,000 lighting grant for the Sadsbury Village Project is completely done.

The closing of Sikorsky putting 250 out of work doesn’t look like a big loss of revenue since other businesses are bringing in more employees.

Chief Hawley stated the deadline for the Body Camera Grant of October 2020 was missed. He found a Federal Grant for small departments and submitted an application. If it is approved, it would be for $15,00.00 and the Chief is moderately hopeful.

The thought to move the Building Codes and Zoning to in house will be for the year 2022 would use Code Inspections and 2023 have our own employee in-house.

The Public Works would like to purchase a 350 pick-up truck. The Board would like to see the numbers below $100,00.00 and a lawn mower for $18,00.00.

Sadsbury Fire Company would have an annual disbursement of $75,00.00.
The public works 3% raise
This year the Zoning Ordinance was updated and next year the Sub Division and Land Development will be updated.

The Codification of Ordinance would cost $10,00.00.

Hiring a Township Manager $100,00.

Today, the budget expenses are over by $400,00.

The next Budget meeting will be Wednesday, October 6, at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Reynolds made a motion, seconded by Mr. Moore, to approve the Dell Computer Contract upgrade for 3 years, 2020-2023 for $987.01. With there being no questions, the Board voting “aye”, the motion passed unanimously.

Jerry Ranck stated there are some things needed at the Bert Reel Park
1. fence
2.drainage on ball field
3.Ball field regraded
4 New scoreboard
5 Tear down the big dilapidated shed (negative activity there all the time)

Mr. Reynolds stated that maybe some of the COVID money could go toward cameras at the park. It seems to be a staging area for disaster.

With there being no further business, Mr. Reynolds made a motion, seconded by Mr. Moore, to adjourn the meeting.
