Yesterday, the Supreme Court rejected President Biden’s latest extension of the Eviction Moratorium through October 3rd. The Moratorium is now considered expired and is no longer in effect.
Chester County’s Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance program is available for all individuals and families who are facing challenges because of the pandemic in paying rent and utility bills. The County received $34.5 million in funds to help prevent evictions, and while the eviction moratorium has been a factor in supporting families during the pandemic, our program is a longer-term solution because the rent and utility assistance need is going to continue to be with us.
To date, Chester County has allocated $14.5 million to Chester County households, and we have more than a year – until the end of September 2022 – to allocate the remaining funds.
Anyone seeking assistance should call 2-1-1 any time of the day or night – select “2” for Housing Resources, then select “2” for Chester County, and then select “2” again for Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance. There you can verify your eligibility and be referred to one of the Chester County Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance providers.

More than 1,700 household have already been accepted into the Chester County rental and utility assistance program, and County officials encourage anyone who is needs rental assistance to call 2-1-1 for help.
