A Special meeting of the Board of Supervisors was conducted on Monday June 20, 2011 commencing at 7:00 p.m. Chairwoman Ms. Silvernail called the meeting to order. Present were Supervisors Ms. Horan and Ms. Sarbaum, and members of the community.
The moment of silence and pledge of allegiance were waived.
Ms. Silvernail announced that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss fire company consolidation for the future of fire and rescue service. Ms. Silvernail turned the meeting over to Mr. Russ Guthrie.
Mr. Russ Guthrie stated that he is a current Service Study Facilitator for the Western District Consolidation Steering Committee. Mr. Guthrie stated that this meeting was created to provide information for those who have not yet attended a regular monthly meeting at the Huston Center located at Brandywine Hospital.
Mr. Guthrie prepared a power point presentation that focused on action to consolidate. Mr. Guthrie stated that action would improve service, reduce duplication, enhancement, and cost efficient. Mr. Guthrie explained the process he went through with Blue Rock, was in discussion from 2004-2007 and under agreement in 2008.
After the power point presentation, comments were made by Sadsburyville Fire Company, Westwood Fire Company and Pomeroy Fire Company.
Mr. Guthrie announced that the Western District Consolidation Steering Committee Meeting will be conducted on June 21, 2011 at the Huston Center at Brandywine Hospital at 7pm all are welcome to attend.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
