Board of Supervisors Special Budget Meeting Friday, November 18, 2016

A special budget meeting of the Board of Supervisors was conducted on Friday, November 18, 2016 commencing at 7:00 p.m.   Chairman, Mr. Hensel called the meeting or order.  Present was Supervisors Mr. Taylor and Mr. Schuibbeo, Township Treasurer Tammy Russell, Township Account Mr. Drozd, and members of the community.

A moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance were observed.

Mr. Hensel announced the Board met in Executive Session prior to tonight’s meeting.

Mr. Hensel turned the meeting over to Mr. Drozd to discuss the 2017 budget.  Mr. Drozd said there has been a change in the General Fund from the last meeting.  There is additional revenue of $15,700 in the General Fund due to changing the Arbitration funding from $30,000 to $15,000 plus the sidewalk fee paid by Sikorsky in the amount of $2,500.  The state grant will be paid to the Township in 2017 for the Sadsbury Village Enhancement Project.  There is a potential state grant for LED lights and street signs for the Sadsbury Village Enhancement Project as well.  Two full time police officers were removed from the budget.  The Park and Recreation Committee have agreed to remove the cost to renovate the Baseball field.  Mr. Drozd stated there will be no tax increase this year.

The contribution to Sadsburyville Fire Company for 2017 will be $35,000.  The lubrication system for the new truck at a cost of $4,400 will remain in the budget.

The Sewer Budget is based on a surplus of $300,000.  Work has to be done on the Sanitary Sewer manholes on Old Wilmington Road and the work done by Technivate on Old Wilmington Road is caving in and needs to be repaired.  The Sanitary Sewer flat fee can be reduced to $280.00 a year and the rate of $13.50 per 1,000 gallons.

Mr. Drozd will make the changes to the budget and give it to Tammy Russell for display at the Township office if the Board agrees to advertise the budget.

Mr. Taylor made a motion, seconded by Mr. Schuibbeo, to advertise the budget.  With there being no questions from the public, the Board voting “aye”, the motion passed unanimously.

Simon Jessey would like to add Eric Brecht and his wife to the Park and Recreation Committee.

Mr. Schuibbeo made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hensel, to appoint Eric Brecht and Lori Brecht to the Park and Recreation Committee.  With there being no questions from the public, the Board voting “aye”, the motion passed unanimously.

The next budget meeting is scheduled for Friday, December 30, 2016 at 7:00 A.M.

With there being no further business, Mr. Hensel made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hensel to adjourn the special budget meeting.  With there being no questions from the public, the Board voting “aye”, the motion passed unanimously.
